Notes from the September 20th Meeting
Parents met
Officers were introduced, request for more parents to sign up for officers was made.
Kathy explained:
Sign in & out procedures
Attendance - Limiting days missed, please call if you are going to miss a meeting
Forms to be filled out
Ron spoke to our POST objectives educating students about a career in art and design and helping to prepare them for college and helping with portfolios and admission requirements
Ron discussed:
The importance of parent involvement and support
All parents help teach
Need help with fund raising and other committees
Fund raising wants to raise 150.00 for each student for supplies
Need writers or people who can help kids write
Need carpenters, health people, other help
Parents also learning and creating things and teaching the students and each other
Ron gave an overview of exploring and learning for life and howCCAD helps support us through use of the building and facilities
He talked about:
-Dues not being enough to fully fund the post, therefore fund raising is necessary
-Student scholarships, portfolios and commitment to doing their art
-Portfolio reviews to start in November
-Art includes product design.
-All the facets of art & design and told about several former students
-Projects kids are doing brochures, gymnastics programs, doing brochure for firefighter post
-Student groups within the post i.e. photography, graphic design, fashion, 3d, comics,etc
The zoo trip was discussed at length. Students and Parents signed up.
Students need to bring a SMALL folding chair, lunch, & camera (if possible) from home.
On Oct. 11th at our post meeting students signed up to go will take home their art bag, drawing board, and easel.
We will have coolers and ice and water provided by the post.
Judy said she would re-send the e-mail that had information about the zoo trip
Parents talked about Carnegie trip We would like to go in November
Vicki Swenson needs lots of help setting this up
Nancy Pagliaro said a tentative date for a tour of the SCARE FACTORY is during the week after Christmas The tour is free
The current SPORTS CUP fund raiser was discussed.
